How to Stop Emotional Eating
It’s estimated that 75% of overeating is attributed to emotional eating. Wedding stress, fatigue from wedding planning and frustrations with fiances all too often will find Bombshell Brides at their refrigerator or pantry looking for comfort. While it is true food can chemically alter your mood to give you feelings of relief and euphoria, the fix is only temporary. Once the food is consumed, what do you have left?

Help curb emotional eating by following these 3 steps: Stop. Look. Listen.
The same unresolved emotions that made you eat in the first place, plus extra calories you really don’t want. Now if that doesn’t make you want to run to the fridge and grab a sugar-filled treat, I don’t know what will. But STOP! Here is your opportunity to make a change and learn how to control emotional eating. Just remember these 3 little words…
STOP. LOOK. LISTEN.
While it might sound like something you might tell your niece before she crosses the street, STOP. LOOK. LISTEN. can help prevent emotional eating caused by wedding stress.
STOP.
Are you really at the fridge because you are hungry? Before you answer take 3 deep breathes in.
LOOK.
Not in the fridge, but inside of yourself. Why are you looking for comfort?
LISTEN.
To your emotions and try to face them. Whether it is your fiance, your mother or yourself that you have feelings towards, until you face them, you will be trapped in the cycle of emotional overeating. If you’re not ready to face your feelings head on by approaching the situation, write down those emotions to help sort them out.
