Crash Diet Before the Wedding?

As the founder of Operation Beautiful, Caitlin Boyle’s mission is to end “fat talk” amongst women.  At her last dress fitting four weeks before her January 2009 wedding, she is faced with a tough decision: Pay big bucks to have her too-tight wedding dress altered or crash diet.

Caitlin’s Story:

“I decided to finally stop yo-yo dieting about two years before my wedding, and when I focused on eating whole, healthy foods instead of gimmicky diet pills, I actually lost weight.  Being fit is not rocket science.  Just eat real food and move your body a little bit every day!”

“One month before my wedding, I tried to sit down in my dress and couldn’t do it.  I was maybe just four pounds heavier than the day I bought the wedding dress – everyone fluctuates a few pounds each day.  Being a mermaid style dress,  there wasn’t much forgiveness in the cut.  The seamstress told me I had two weeks to either decide to drop the weight or let out the dress.”

“I went home, thought about it, and decided that going on a crazy crash diet just so I could fit into my dress was ridiculous.  I let out the dress and was so happy that I did.  The last thing I needed to be was a crazy, half-starving bride to be.”

I have a friend getting married in 3 weeks, she’s crash dieting. I tried to get her to workout with me…no luck. Better to try with eating right and exercise than crashing.
